Aftercare
The first 48 hours decide the next four weeks
Waxing lifts hair from the root and leaves the follicle open and the skin briefly reactive. What you do afterward determines whether you get smooth, comfortable weeks — or irritation and ingrowns.
The first 24–48 hours
- Leave the area alone for the first 24 hours — no scrubbing, no tight waistbands, no heavy workouts.
- Skip pools, hot tubs, and open water for 48 hours to keep freshly opened follicles calm.
- Avoid deodorants, fragranced lotions, and active skincare on the waxed area for the rest of the day.
- Loose clothing and a cool shower beat a hot bath in the first day.
The rest of the first week
- Exfoliate gently 2–3 times a week starting on day three, using a washcloth or mild scrub.
- Moisturize daily — desert air dries skin, and dry skin traps regrowing hairs.
- If a hair starts to curl under, loosen it with exfoliation rather than picking at it.
- Book your next session at 3–4 weeks, before hairs lengthen past the easy-pull window.
Desert-climate rules (Phoenix edition)
Central Phoenix adds sun, chlorine, and heat to the usual aftercare equation. Treat these as part of the routine, not optional extras:
- Sun: no direct sun or tanning on the waxed area for 48 hours, then SPF 30+ — freshly waxed skin burns faster.
- Swimming: rinse with fresh water after pools and treat chlorine as a drying agent for the first week.
- Heat: Phoenix summers mean sweat and friction — looser clothing in the first 48 hours reduces irritation.
- Ingrown prevention: keep the area exfoliated and moisturized; most ingrowns start with dry, flaky skin.
When to contact us
Mild redness that settles within a few hours is normal. If you notice swelling, persistent irritation, or signs of infection, reach out and pause at-home treatment until the skin recovers. For persistent ingrowns, we can adjust technique and spacing at your next visit — mention it when you book.
